My Story

WHO IS HD [ Hugh Dauerty ] is a contemporary pop artist and graphic designer based at Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After years in manufacturing, he stepped away in late 2018 to rediscover his passion for art. What began as personal exploration quickly evolved into a full creative pursuit, leading to exhibitions at art festivals and shows across New England and the East Coast.

His vibrant, pop-culture-infused works have earned notable awards, including Best in Show at the Milford Art Council’s Pop Art & Culture Experience and Member Show. In fall 2019, he enrolled in Bellevue University’s Graphic Design program, honing his technical skills while expanding his artistic practice. Upon completing his Bachelor’s degree, he transitioned to full-time freelancing in design and fine art.

Recent highlights include exhibiting at Red Dot Miami 2024 (during Art Basel week) with Perseus Gallery, where he presented pieces blending history, pop culture, and abstract expressionism. In 2025, he solidified his presence in the Bridgeport arts community by joining Metro Art Studios as a resident artist (Studio #314), participating in the Bridgeport Art Trail and showcasing his evolving mixed-media works alongside local creatives.

Drawing inspiration from history, music, urban energy, and everyday pop elements, Hugh seamlessly blends abstraction, nostalgia, and bold graphics—whether in original paintings or client commissions. Now freelancing steadily from his studio at Metro Art Studios, he creates engaging visuals that connect with audiences and brands alike. With a growing list of awards, gallery features, and regional momentum, Hugh continues to evolve and advance his practice in the creative world.
